Company in Portugal, Business in Portugal

Creating a company in Portugal requires dozens of documents, but the general conditions are favourable to investors. You can register a company in one building. In Portugal there are Centers for Entrepreneurs.

Registration can be divided into 7 steps. First – placing in the National Register of the Legal Persons an application for certificate about the company’s name (29,93 Euro) and for temporary card with entrepreneur’s ID number. Next one goes to notary’s office and presents the following documents: certificate about the name, card with entrepreneur’s ID number, copies of IDs, payment of SISA (tax on real estate). Third step is making a notary’s act. Fourth – declaring activity in Inland Revenue. In the Trade Chamber one applies for entry in the Trade Register and in the National Register of Legal Persons. Application must be presented by one of the shareholders, manager or proxy. Two last steps are: entry in the Social Insurance Institution and Trade Index.

In case of sole traders the procedure is simplified. First you have to register in the local financial department. You have to fill in a form and present the certificate with Tax number.
