In many sectors: constructing, installation, transport or food processing – there is necessity to have permit for business. It is also up to local municipalities, whether one can open gastronomic business. In the Netherlands there are limits regarding number of bars, cafes and restaurants in the district.

Persons who have obtained such permit, usually run activity as sole traders. Before starting business activity one has to place the following documents in the Department of Naturalization and Immigration (IND): copy of passport, types of activity to be run, declaration from the Tax authorities, decision about granting a Tax ID number, copy of purchase contract or tenancy contract of an office/factory and business plan. Business plan must include major financial forecasts. There are organizations and companies which help in writing business plan. On the web pages like www.kvk.nl, www.adviseurs.pagina.nl you can find patterns of business plans for PLC and LTD. To the documents you have to also attach Articles of Association.
