Company in Denmark, Business in Denmark

Denmark is a country with highest costs of living and highest taxes in European Union.
Registration of sole trading activity is neither expensive, nor complicated. One has to turn to the local municipality and present business plan and certificates of education of person which wishes to start business.

Carrying out business is connected with high costs of translation (400 crowns for each translated page of document) and costs of legal counselors. Without them it is pretty complicated to go through tax and social calculations.

Many rules and regulations are based on the common law. Lack of knowledge about Law makes it almost impossible to run business.

The Government of Denmark tries to create a friendly atmosphere for new investments. For this purpose an organization called “Invest in Denmark” was created – it gives information about possible investments. But in fact it helps mostly the IT companies.

Denmark does not create any limitations regarding business. It means, that each entrepreneur has same rights, no matter what kind of company he wishes to open: limited liability company, public limited company, general partnership.

For investors the simplest way of carrying out a business is creation of a branch of company. It does not require big financial investment.

In order to open a Public limited company (Plc) one Leeds 500 000 crowns. To open a private limited company (Ltd.) the minimum sum is 125 000 crowns.

Each company must be registered in Danish Agency for Commercial Activity, which is a department of the Ministry of Commerce. Next, one has to turn to the local department of taxes and duty.
